Inbound Link Building – Learn How To Outrank The Big Boys

Taking the time to understanding the basics of inbound link building will hold you in good stead for the future. As you rank well on the search engines and show your authority on a specific niche, Google and other search engines will start favor you as an authority site and literally rank you for hundreds of related keywords that you haven’t even tried ranking for.

Now this sounds ideal but you first need to prove your authority by getting your targeted keywords ranked really well in the search engines to build a solid base.

One of the best strategies to do this is to create one-way inbound links to your content.

There are several ways to do this but what must be stressed is that inbound link building is done reasonably slowly and naturally so as not to cause alarm bells with the search engines and have them penalize you by dumping your content back down on page 50.

The following are 3 link building strategies that you can implement straight away and start creating inbound links to your posts.

Article Marketing

Write and submit relevant value driven articles to some Article directory sites. Not all article directory sites are rated equal. EzineArticles has a site page rank of 10 which is very high where as say GoArticles only has a site page rank of 3 which doesn’t hold as much weight with the search engines so the inbound link created from your EzineArticles article is worth more to your ranking than a lower ranking article submission site.

Web Directories.

These are a great way of building inbound links. One of the most popular are Onlywire.com which holds over 35 social media marketing sites that you can submit your content through to generate links. They have both a paid and free service depending on the level of submissions you plan to make per month. They also have a download and share toolbar that you can use on your web browser for quick and easy submissions.

Content Syndication Tribes.

These can be both paid and free sites depending on the level of submissions you plan to make per month and also whether you intend to use their auto submissions features. This method of inbound link building is done on the basis of reciprocation as the more members content you syndicate the more content you will have syndicated by them.

Success on the search engines comes from a number of factors and inbound link building combined with a well optimized website implementing both on and off page SEO techniques and you have the recipe to beat the big boys to the number one page position.

Use High Quality Content to Optimize Your Site Content

A basic understanding of site content optimization is important, whether your site contains specific, high quality content or bulk content. This is important because a search engine spider (often called a bot) looks for certain elements on a web page, once it has been dispatched to it. It begins with the URL and then moves on to record the site’s title. The next item recorded is the meta tag (the brief site description following the title on the Search Engine Results Page, or SERP). The title and the description meta tag are incorporated into the initial portion of the source code.

Always focus on keyword targets – that is, strong keyword targets – when you write a title. The real target for your title is your human reader, not the search engine bot. Your reader will see the site’s title on the Search Engine Results Page. Therefore, you want to be sure that the title is relevant and includes the strongest keywords, those keywords that best describe the content on the page. A word of caution – do not try to put too many keywords in the title. That just muddies the water. Instead, concentrate on the most important ones.

Do not expend too much effort and time on the meta tag. While meta tags do have some importance, the search engines do not place a lot of weight on them. This is because webmasters have abused meta tags for years. In building your meta tag, simply write the description in a few complete sentences. Remember to weave in some strong keyword phrases. The search results will usually feature the description, so make it good. This is where the meta tag’s importance lies – it will be seen by the reader.

Good content is the key to search engine optimization. Spiders, like humans, read site content from top left to bottom right. They attack the left hand column first and read to the bottom, and then they move to the next column on the right. In other words, the spider reads the site in the same way that you read a newspaper.

Keep your content simple and use the strongest keywords in the beginning of the copy. Then weave keyword phrases into the remainder of the text while not falling victim to the temptation to use unnecessary repetition of keywords. This is called keyword stuffing. The bad news is that search engines equate keyword stuffing with spam.

Remember that the search engine spider will read the entire text – 100 per cent of it. So make it easy for the web crawler by employing body text on your site. You can usually build it in without degrading the web designer’s intent when it comes to functionality, look and feel.

Succeeding After The Google Panda Update

No one wants to believe their site isn’t up to par, especially when they were doing fairly well before the Google Panda update. Mention this update in certain circles and it is basically looked upon as the website killer. The fear and confusion are understandable, but there are a few very simple ways to succeed with the update.

The first thing you need to do is evaluate your current content. Google has graciously provided a checklist of what content should offer. The easiest way to describe their checklist is visitor oriented. What search engines want no longer applies. Google Panda wants visitors to be happy with their results, so this update put visitors first.

Visitors want engaging, informative content they can trust. Becoming a trustworthy authority on a topic ensures success. Google is still looking at how long visitors stay on your site and unsolicited backlinks. Get people talking positively about your website and Google will gladly push you to the top of the ranks.

Does your existing content provide detailed information that is easy for visitors to understand? Is content well edited, with few, if any mistakes? Are all facts carefully checked and references documented? If so, your site probably wasn’t affected. If you answered no to even one question, it’s time to start making sure your content meets this requirements.

Outside of content, Google Panda targeted sites that provided more advertising than content. While it is nice to make extra money from your site, too much advertising actually deters visitors. Your site appears less professional and more like spam. The best way to fix this is to greatly reduce your advertising and increase your content.

Many site owners don’t have the time to spend researching and crafting the kind of content Google Panda demands. They definitely don’t have the time to rewrite existing content. Luckily, there is a very easy solution to the problem.

Copywriters are professional writers in varying fields of expertise. From general knowledge to very specific topics and niches, professional copywriters provide detailed, researched, original content to help your website quickly find its place back at the top of Google’s search results.

They make sure your keywords flow naturally and appear just enough. They also provide professionally edited content that visitors will quickly absorb. This means visitors greedy for more content and your site becoming the authority it should be.

By commissioning content, your site can succeed, even through the Google Panda update. It will also stay successful through subsequent Google changes.

Does Your Blog Need To Be Provocative?

A provocative woman can catch plenty of attention. And once she catches that attention, she can usually hold on to it and command more!

Does any of that sound like what you want your blog to do? Catch attention, hold on to it, and command more?

Thought so!

Here’s a few pointers you might want to think about.

Is your tagline on point? Do people know in a glance what your site is all about? If you have entered the world of online marketing, it seems like a MAZE, and you’re not sure where to turn, would the tagline, “Helping new entrepreneurs through the maze of online marketing” reach out and grab you?
Does your freebie suggest, “This is interesting, You know you want it?” If you have a freebie for your visitors on your blog, you want to be sure it is something they need and that it draws attention. You want it to be enticing enough that they want more.
Are your sidebar banners eye-catching? I’ll qualify this one. Eye candy is good, but “helpful and relevant” makes it sing! You want the banners to represent something that will make your visitors feel more at home and want to stick around. A couple of flashing banners is alright but don’t get carried away here. Less is more. Just make sure they are pertinent to your site!
Are you guiding your readers to the goodies? Sometimes, just having pretty tabs isn’t enough. You have to actually tell your audience where the gems are periodically in your blog posts. For example: Need powerful resources? Click the “resource” tab above! Or: Have you discovered the secrets in my freebie yet? No? Then go click the above box! On occasion, it’s fun to lead people around your site!
You have to “show them what you’ve got” but in such a way as to be intriguing and compelling. That’s the beauty of a good blog. It’s not overbearing. It’s not confusing. It’s enticing without being too loud.

Does that make sense?

I know. Comparing your blog to a provocative lady can seem pretty weird but in the long run, you ARE trying to do the same thing. You can be provocative in a good way!

You want your blog to be attractive, exciting, and inviting. Need I say more?

Now, get out there and strut your stuff!
